Was it fake? Sounded fake. If so, then they are desperate for clicks. Funnier jokes would be better than publicity stunts, IMO.

What kind of message does this send? Free speech, jokes, comedy is now off-limits? What about social distancing? Will Smith does not set a great example for $cientology.
